The view of the five-storied pagoda of the kofuku-ji Temple from the southeastern shore of the Sarusawa Pond, along with the Great Buddha of the Todai-ji Temple, is a symbol of Nara.
This five-storied pagoda, which had gone through fires several times, was reconstructed in the 33rd year of Oei(1426). This is the second tallest pagoda next to that of the To-ji Temple in Kyoto.
