Photo Predecessor of this temple is said Kumagori shosha which was constructed by Shotoku Taishi. When the transfer of Heijo capital (in 710), this was also moved to the present place, and was named as Daian-ji Temple. In those days it was one of the seven biggest temples. In its vast land, there used to be Great South Gate, middle gate, Halls, the Golden gate and seven-stories pagodas which was standing in the east and the west sides. In the part of pre precinct there is Sugiyama ancient tomb.
